How to install an EXT Electric Conversion.STEP 1Measure for placement of the front base on the trailer, approximately 31’’ down from the top of the trailer.NOTE: Not from the roll tarp end cap.STEP 2:Position the base with the top hole at the 31’’ mark down from the top of the trailer. Have the center line decal on the center stake of trailer and mark the remaining rivets/ holes.NOTE: If the catwalk is in the way deter- mine if above or below the catwalk is closer to 31’’.STEP 3:Using a 5/16’’ drill bit, drill out the marked rivets/holes.STEP 4Thread holes with the provided 3/8’’ self threading bolt.STEP 5Using 1 1/4’’ x 3/8’’ bolts , mount the base utilizing the pre-threaded holes.NOTE: For trailers with ribbed paneling, it is necessary to use nylon spacers provid- ed.STEP 6On the interior of trailer install the 3/8’’ nuts, lock washers, & flat washers onto the 1 1/4’’ x 3/8’’ bolts.STEP 7Use the holes on the face of the base that is closest to 33’’ down from top of trailer to mount the pivot/arm assembly with the 1 1/4’’ x 1/2’’ bolts provided.STEP 8Drill a 1’’ hole below the base, preferrably under catwalk so cables do not touch.STEP 9Install small rubber grommet in the 1’’ hole.STEP 10Lace cable through arm as shown and push through grommet, let cable sag down a few inches from the catwalk.STEP 11Determine desired location for the plug receiver. Before drilling 2’’ hole check to make sure there are no wires or hoses underneath or in the way.STEP 12Install receiver using 3/8’’ self threading bolts.STEP 13Mount rear base in a similar manner as the front base.STEP 14Use the holes on the face of the base that is closest to 33’’ down from top of trailer to mount the pivot/arm assembly with the 1 1/4’’ x 1/2’’ bolts provided.STEP 15Remove bungee cord and u-clamps from tarp.STEP 16Meaure from front arm to 3’’ beyond rear arm to determine length of roll tube and adapter.STEP 17Pull the end of the roll tube out away from the tarp and insert roll tube adapter,spot weld straight then weld. Be sure to protect the tarp and surrounding objects from welding splatter. Let the weld cool , then slide the roll tube back into the white poly bushing of the rear arm (approx. 2-3’’ beyond bushing).STEP 18Mount the motor to the front arm, using the 5/16’’ nuts and lock washers.STEP 19Install cable terminals to the studs on the motor. Do not allow stud to spin when tightening, and do not over tighten.STEP 20Install motor to motor shaft adapter with the 1 3/4’’ x 3/8’’ bolt and 3/8’’ locking nut.STEP 21Mount the retaining washer to secure motor.STEP 22Install motor cover using 1/4’’ torque screws and lock washers provided.STEP 23To reinstall the u-clamps, be sure theroll tube is slid back into rear arm then square front arm with the face of the trailer. Next, install front u-clamp and remove all wrinkles and twists from pock- et by stretching the tarp from the back of trailer. Proceed installing the rest of the u-clamps.STEP 24Square rear arm with the back face of the trailer. Then install roll tube collars.
